Walter and Sally Snyder of Gilroy are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Stephanie to Bryan Hsu, son of Charles Hsu and the late Karen Hsu, of San Ramon.

Stephanie is a 1997 graduate of Gilroy High School and a 2002 graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. She is employed as a legal secretary in Morgan Hill. Bryan is a 1997 graduate of California High School in San Ramon and is employed with UPS in San Jose.

They met while whitewater rafting on the American River and became engaged a year later while vacationing on Catalina Island.

The couple is planning a September wedding in Carmel and will honeymoon in Hawaii. They will make their home in San Jose.

Sampson/Essex

Brea Sampson is engaged to marry Easton Essex on Saturday, June 14, at the Elks Lodge in Gilroy.

Brea, daughter of Jack Sampson of San Jose and Karen Silva of Gilroy, and granddaughter of Mrs. Walden Sampson of Gilroy, attended Brownell School and graduated from Westmont High School in Campbell. She graduated as a medical assistant from Maric College in Modesto.

The couple will reside in Davis where Easton will be attending UC Davis.

HONORS

Marc Griffis

Marc Christopher Griffis of Gilroy has received his bachelor’s degree in aquatic biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The graduation ceremony and conferring of degrees will take place in Santa Barbara on Saturday.

Marc is the son of Mike and Leslie Griffis of Gilroy. He is a 2003 graduate of Gilroy High School, and attended West Valley Junior College before transferring to UC Santa Barbara.

Anthony Villano

Army Pvt. Anthony S. Villano graduated from One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consisted of basic training and advanced individual training (AIT).

During AIT, he received instruction to serve as an infantryman/mortarman using light and heavy anti-armor weapons, indirect-fire support and mechanized operations. The training included weapons, tactics, patrolling, navigation and more.

He is the son of Richard Villano of Gilroy and a 2003 graduate of Gilroy High School.
