John Albaugh will celebrate his 89th birthday Saturday, Sept. 20. He was born in 1919 and came to Gilroy in 1974. He still goes to the gym every weekday in the morning and is active in the Catholic Church, serving as an usher.

“He’s the best father in the world and he always has lots of hugs for just about every woman he runs into,” said daughter J. Chris Mickartz. “He is a cutie and people love him and my mother. They are truly the best.”

Krystal Sanfilippo and Brian Hart were married June 20, 2008 at Lighthouse Point in Santa Cruz.

Krystal, daughter of Steve and Deb Sanfilippo of Milpitas, is a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in San Jose and San Jose State University. She is an art instructor at Independence High School in San Jose.

Brian, son of Jim and Kathy Hart of Hollister, is a graduate of San Benito High School and San Jose State University. He is employed by the Improv Comedy Club in San Jose.

One hundred fifty family members and friends enjoyed the beautiful seaside ceremony, as the minister told the story of how the couple met and fell in love. A sit-down dinner reception followed at the Cocoanut Grove at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

The couple now reside in San Jose.

Rey Gutierrez

Rey Gutierrez of Gilroy completed basic training for the United States Army.

Gutierrez, son of Debbie Ruiz and brother of Paul, is with Company Eco 2Nd Battalion Infantry Regiment and will now be stationed in Maryland.

Samuel Charles Scianna

Ledonna and Mark Scianna of Morgan Hill are proud to announce that their son, Sam, a 2006 graduate of Live Oak High School, joined the United States Navy April 8.

He attended basic training in Great Lakes, Ill. After graduating May 30, he stayed in Great Lakes to continue the 12-week A-School trainingas a Damage Control Specialist/Firefighter. As a DC-firefighter, Sam is responsible for ship stability, firefighting, fire prevention and chemical, biological and radiological warfare defenses. He will also train shipboard personnel in lifesaving devices and various firefighting methods.

Sam graduated A-School training Sept. 4. He will be stationed in Everett, Wa., where he will proudly serve God and country aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.
