Darren Yafai celebrates his 40th birthday today, Dec. 14. He was
born in San Jose and attended San Jose elementary schools until 5th
grade when his family moved to Gilroy.

Darren Yafai celebrates his 40th birthday today. He was born in San Jose and attended San Jose elementary schools until 5th grade when his family moved to Gilroy.
He graduated from Gilroy High School in 1986 where he played football and baseball and was very involved in school activities. He then graduated from Chico State in 1991.
Upon graduation, he moved back to Gilroy to teach history and achieve his ultimate goal of coaching football. He coached Mustang football for 15 years where his last position was head coach for seven years.
Darren stepped down from coaching to go back to school to receive his master’s degree. He will graduate in May.
He continues to be very involved in the community. He is on the steering committee for Christopher High School and School Site Council.
Darren will celebrate the day with his wife Andrea and his two children, Darrien and Vanessa.

Katelyn Michelle Mash was born Sept. 25, 2007 at El Camino Hospital to parents Jeff and Brandi Mash of Tracy. She weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces. Grandparents are Rick and Cindy Boyer of Morgan Hill and Sam and Dorothy Mash of Gilroy.

Derrick W. Fellows made the Dean’s List for the fall quarter 2007, with a 3.56 GPA, at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He is studying architecture/construction management and is the son of Lisa and Ron Fellows of Gilroy.
