Chris Schilling, 40, of San Martin, competed in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, on Oct. 10 with a finishing time of 12 hours, 41 minutes, 27 seconds, in 85+ degree heat and humidity.

“That was the hardest thing I have ever done,” Chris said after the race. This was Chris’ third Ironman finish consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, finishing up with a 26.2-mile run.

Chris’ husband, Scott, and four children, Taylor, Nathan, Siena and Kyle, as well as her parents, Jeff and Judy Circuit, were at the finish line to congratulate her.

Ryan Peyton Campbell

Ryan Peyton Campbell became the 81st Eagle Scout from Troop 799. He was awarded the honor on May 30. Ryan’s Eagle project entailed planting 15 trees and painting protective bars at Community Park in Morgan Hill. Ryan completed 33 merit badges, held several leadership positions within the troop, and was awarded the World Conservation Award, Den Chief Service Award and the Arrow of Light. He is also a member of the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow.

Ryan is the son of Rick and Tricia Campbell of Morgan Hill.

Rob Lehocky

Rob Lehocky, a former Morgan Hill resident who graduated from Live Oak High School in 1988 and now works as a Fox10 sports anchor in Mobile Ala., was honored Oct. 9 in New York as one of the elite in journalism. He won an Edward R. Murrow award for sports reporting.

Lehocky was honored by the Radio Television and New Directors Association. The award was for his story about Challenger Field, a baseball league designed for kids with disabilities.

RTNDA has honored outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow’s pursuit of excellence in journalism embodies the spirit of the awards that carry his name.

ENGAGEMENT

Jacobsen/Hill

Vanessa Jacobsen and Weston Hill are engaged to be married.

Vanessa, daughter of Jeffrey and Linda Jacobsen of Hollister, is a graduate of San Jose State University with degrees in both marketing and communications. She is a marketing and communications administrator.

Weston, son of James Hill and Genie Lombardo of Modesto, is a graduate of San Jose State University with a degree in civil engineering. He is a civil engineer.

The couple plan an August 2010 wedding at the historic San Juan Mission.
