HOLLISTER
The investigation of the Nov. 17 attempted murder of a Hollister man remains open, but there are no new details to report, officers said Monday.
Officer Rosie Betanio, a spokeswoman for the Hollister Police Department, said Robert Barraza Sr., 40, was uncooperative with the department’s investigation.
Barraza Sr. was shot in the abdomen during a barbecue at a house on Hazel Street, authorities said. He was taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital and later to a Bay Area hospital, Betanio said.
Police were told a single shot was fired from a dark vehicle – possibly a sedan – but they have no suspects.
On Oct. 14, Barraza’s son, Robert Anthony Barraza, was shot and killed outside of a house party on Valaire Drive, authorities reported.
The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the younger Barraza’s death, said Monday that the agency is awaiting ballistics results from the California Department of Justice on the bullet that killed him.
No one has been charged or arrested in Barraza’s death, but a Caucasian man in his early 20s – who was also shot on Valaire Drive that night – is a suspect, deputies have said.
