SANTA CRUZ
Pacific Collegiate scored three times in the second half and dispatched visiting Anzar by a 4-0 margin on Friday in the Coastal Athletic League finale for both teams.
But while the private Santa Cruz school will be advancing on toward next week’s Division V playoffs — Pacific Collegiate won the CAL title after defeating Pacific Grove earlier this week — the 2009-10 season is complete for the Hawks, who finish at 3-5-2 in the CAL and 3-9-2 overall.
“But we wrapped up our season fairly well,” Anzar head coach Jeremiah Martinez said. “I’m only losing four players (to graduation) and I’ll have 12 of my players for the next two years, so that’s a good thing.”
Anzar will lose Glen Alameda, Davin Sabla, Eduardo Zepeda and leading scorer Alexis Sicairos from next year’s team. However, only two players on this year’s roster of 18 are juniors, while the rest of the team are currently either freshmen or sophomores.
