Keeping pace with Gilroy and Salinas, the San Benito girls soccer team posted a 4-0 victory over host North Salinas Friday to remain undefeated in Tri-County Athletic League play.

Behind two goals from Karly Leon and a pair of assists from Hannah Cobb, the Lady Balers earned their fourth straight win and third straight in the TCAL.

Furthermore, Friday’s victory was also the third straight game in which San Benito won 4-0; the Lady Balers previously defeated both Alisal and Notre Dame by the same margin.

San Benito is now 3-0-0 in the TCAL, 5-3-2 overall. Both Salinas (3-0-1) and Gilroy (3-0-0) remain undefeated in the TCAL as well.

“We’ve got some tougher teams coming in Salinas and Gilroy,” San Benito head coach Ben Alvarez said. “We’re strong with the seniors we have. But we have to take advantage while we can.”

North Salinas, meanwhile, was a very “young team,” Alvarez said, and San Benito took advantage when it went ahead 2-0 at halftime.

Sara Yamasaki added a goal and an assist to the Lady Balers’ total, while Kelly Gottron deposited a score as well. Jocelyn Serrano also had an assist.

San Benito will be back in action on Wednesday when it will host Everett Alvarez at 3:30 p.m.
