It’s summer and quiet out in South County
It has been pretty quiet out here in South County these days.
With no school or sports going on, there’s not a whole lot to
report on!
Congratulations go out to Karina Mendoza, who was married last
Saturday at the Reynolds Ranch in King City. Karina is a
Bitterwater-Tully alumni who graduated last year from the
University of California Los Angeles. Many South County residents,
including the O’Connor family and Karina’s former Bitterwater-Tully
teacher, Tim Williams and his wife, Erika, were among those who
attended the wedding.

The Salinas Rodeo took place last week as well. It was a good place to be if you wanted to get away from the hot weather in King City. We went to the fair on Saturday and was it ever cold and foggy! Some of those taking in the action from South County included Billy Whitney, Steve Rianda, Andy and Tamra Barrington, Gene, Shana, Blane and Blair Strohn, Chad Zgragen, Kanani Barbree, Blair Dani and Shane Higgins, just to name a very few.
A new fourth-eighth grade teacher has been hired to replace Tim Williams at Bitterwater-Tully School. Kevin Kirschner will be moving to the area Aug. 1 from the Dos Palos area. He comes highly recommended as a teacher/administrator and he says he is excited about his new position. He spent a day with the kids at the end of the year so the students already know him and are anxious to have him as their new teacher.
Many South County residents will be heading over to La Honda this weekend for the Driscoll Ranch Rodeo. It’s another good place to beat the heat as it’s right off Hwy. 1 on the coast, and the rodeo is filled with fun, family events.
