Happy (or should I say unhappy) Daylight Savings time. Some people really like it when the time changes – others really don’t. In any case, the days are definitely shorter now. I hope you all remembered to change your clocks last weekend!

With the time change comes the start of the holiday season. Christmas decorations are all over the stores now along with Christmas commercials all over the TV. Seems like Thanksgiving hardly exists anymore as advertising goes right from pedaling Halloween candy straight into Christmas!

John and Tina Bourdet are getting ready for their busiest time of year right now at Bourdet’s Christmas Tree Farm. As usual, they open the day after Thanksgiving and will be open every day until Christmas Eve. A new addition to the farm this year includes a sort of nature walk through the trees with a Christmas Trivia contest. They have added five different characters throughout the farm, along with a Christmas trivia question at each stop. At the end of the walk, you turn in your trivia sheet and you will be entered into a drawing to win a free Christmas tree next year. Not only is it fun for the entire family, but a little educational as well. Besides the trivia walk, traditional features remain at the farm as well. They still offer the 15-minute narrated sleigh ride as well as the FFA petting zoo and the Lions Club food and refreshment stand. The Lions Club and the FFA will be on site the first three weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. the Friday after Thanksgiving. Santa will be on hand to receive Christmas wishes from the little ones and for photos from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends and on opening day. Also featured is a beautiful spot for family photos within a Christmas setting. As always, all of this is free for the entire family. Be sure to set a date to take your family to Bourdet’s Christmas Tree Farm for some fun, family entertainment this holiday season.

With the National Finals Rodeo quickly approaching, some of you may be looking for some tickets. Hollister resident Wanda Waller just called me and she has 6 tickets she’d like to sell. They are for the Monday and Tuesday evening performances and she is selling them for $50 each. For more information, contact Wanda at 637-2618 or her daughter at 801-6745. Better act quickly as I’m sure they’ll go fast!

We attended our first ever King City High School Drama Club play last Friday night at the high school. Sierra was placed in a drama class this year for her senior year so she jumped right into the class and got a part in the play! It was a murder mystery and the kids did a great job with it. We really enjoyed the play but especially enjoyed watching Sierra do something new. Who knows? Maybe she’ll be a star someday!

Speaking of being a star, PBR World Qualifier and Hollister resident Brendon Clark is starring in his own Internet show. The Brendon Clark show airs live on USTREAM every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. He and his cohost, Allie, host guests on the show and answer questions about bull riding live via the Internet. It is pretty entertaining, be sure to check it out!

Many South County kids will be heading down to Paso Robles this weekend for the Mid State Classic High School Rodeo that is being hosted by District 7. The event will feature two full days of nonstop rodeo action. Good luck to all our local kids who will be competing.
