Happy New Year everyone, hope you all had a safe and happy celebration.

Not too much was happening down here in South County last week.

Everyone was probably relaxing and enjoying the warm weather.

The Lonoak Badgers 4-H Club did host their New Year’s Dance last Saturday

night at Tully Hall. The kids all had a great time while the parents stayed in the back of the hall and played a few games of Pedro. Some of those attending besides the 4-H’ers included Bill and Robin Rist and Renay from the 4-H office along with her boyfriend. Thanks to all those who came out and supported the Lonoak Badgers 4-H Club again.

A few brandings did take place last Saturday as well. Bill and Robin Rist finished up their calves at their place. Those helping out included the Madson Family, Fred and John Flook, Glen and Donna Nelson, John and Johnnie Nino, Jim Bob Wilson and RIch Casey. Bill and Robin’s daughter, Sundae, and her husband are just learning how to rope calves so they saved the smallest ones for them and they were able to get a few roped. It was a beautiful day for a branding and one that was enjoyed by all.

Also branding last Saturday were Mike and Mary Ann Mallory. Some of those who helped out at their branding included Vern and Jo Ann Scattini, Nessen Schmidt, Kenny, Vicky and Colleen Sabin, Hec and Kasey Hurley, John Brewen, John Wooster, Rowdy Plaskett, and Larry Holman. Unfortunately my grandma passed away last week and her funeral was held on Saturday so we were unable to attend the branding.

The next meeting of the Home Department will be held on Jan. 15 at the home of Denise Donham at the Lone Ranch. She is still working on a guest speaker but when details are finalized, I’ll pass them on. The meeting will begin at 10:30, followed by their usual potluck luncheon.

School’s are back in session this week (finally) so things are starting to get back into a normal routine. The weather is supposed to be nice for several days so I’m sure the brandings will be in full swing here pretty soon.

Hope you have a great week, and, if you have any news you’d like to

share, give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected].
