Kids from South County compete in Oakdale rodeo
Wow, how’d you like that rain last week? It was pretty crazy
around here. We had over an inch of rain last week. With all that
rain, the grass is really growing now. You can see it on the hills,
the sides of the roads and all over the pastures. Now that we’ve
got such a good start, let it rain, let it rain, let it rain!

Several South County kids spent last weekend in Oakdale at a multi-district high school rodeo. Congratulations to Cash Robinson on a great win in the bull riding. He was 80 points to win the go round and the average. Way to go, Cash. Keep it up, buddy!

Others who participated and did well included Taylor and Twyster Hurley, Megan and Tommy Ford, Wyatt Naccarrato, Lacey Bourdet, Dawson Bell, Averie Hubbell, Mikael Bernadette and Brody Sans. We have a little bit of a break now before the kids compete down in Paso Robles in November.

Todd and I took a quick trip to Oakdale to watch the kids on Saturday, but we made it back on Sunday in order to attend the Celebration of Life for Bob Hansen. The Pavilion at Bolado Park was packed with Bob’s family and so many friends. It was evident that he touched many peoples’ lives and he will be greatly missed. But, as stated at the service, although we will miss Bob, we should all be happy that we had him in our lives.

Good luck goes out to San Benito High School alumni Sam Doty who will be traveling to Indianapolis this week to attend the National FFA convention. Sam has been elected to run for a national office which is quite an honor. He will be going through a rigorous interview process as well as a written test. The results will be broadcast live on RFD TV next week. Good Luck, Sam. We’re rooting for you!

Don’t forget the upcoming San Benito County Cattlewomen’s Association 6th Annual Fall Fashion Show and Luncheon. The event will be held on Oct. 23, at the San Juan Oaks Golf Club. For more information, contact Jayme Stewart.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me with any news you’d like to share.
