New Year starts off with calf branding
Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a safe and happy
new year. We spent the New Year’s holiday in Lake Tahoe so we had a
cold, snowy holiday but a fun one for sure.
Andy and Tamra Barrington hosted a New Year’s Eve gathering at
their home for the holiday. Some of those joining them for the
evening included the Hurley Family, the Brewen Family, the Garza

It’s that time of the year when calf branding season is in full swing. Some of those starting to brand their calves already have been Paul and Willene Wattis, George and Sandy Rose, John and Janel Flook, Nessen Schmidt and the Topo Ranch.

The Professional Bull Riders Association kicked off the new year at the Madison Square Gardens Arena last weekend. Hollister’s Brendon Clark got one ride there and he will go at it again this weekend at a PBR event in Sacramento.

Many high school rodeo participants will be busy the next few weekends as District 7 members will be down in San Luis Obispo this coming weekend while District 4 members will be competing in King City the following weekend.

Schools are officially back in session after a long holiday break. Some schools will be taking another week off in February for a winter break. We’re not so lucky as we don’t get that break here in South County.

Have a great week and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected] with any news you’d like to share.
