It’s that time of year again. Indian summer is definitely upon
us. It’s just been downright HOT in south county the past several
days. They say it’s supposed to cool down this weekend, just in
time for the San Benito County Fair kickoff weekend.

It’s that time of year again. Indian summer is definitely upon us. It’s just been downright HOT in south county the past several days. They say it’s supposed to cool down this weekend, just in time for the San Benito County Fair kickoff weekend.
The fair officially opens up next week, but the junior rodeo and ranch rodeo will be taking place this weekend at Bolado Park. The junior rodeo begins at 9 a.m. and should last all day long while the ranch rodeo begins at the same time on Sunday. Be sure to take in the action at Bolado this weekend to root on your favorites.
High school rodeo begins again this weekend as well. The first high school rodeo of the year this year will be held at the Posse Grounds in Salinas on Sunday. The kids should get in a good practice day on Saturday at the junior rodeo.
What a shock to the community last week with the passing of Bob Hansen. Bob will be missed by so many. He was a great friend to all who knew him; a husband, father, grandfather and brother. My sincerest condolences go out to Ann and the entire family. There will be a celebration of Bob’s life on Oct. 8 at Bolado Park.
Birthday wishes go out to Candace Brewen, who celebrated her birthday on Sept. 8.
We are being over run by puppies at my house these days. We currently have 15 (yes, I said 15) puppies on the ground that need to find homes ASAP! Nine of them are related to the infamous dog “Pork Chop,” if you remember him. The other six are little rat terrier/dachsund and border collie mix. I know they sound awful but they are pretty darn cute! Give me a call or e-mail me to reserve your puppy now. They should be ready to go in a few weeks. Please call!
Buck season is coming to a close this weekend and I have yet to report on any big bucks. If you want to brag a little bit on a big one you got, be sure to get me the information as soon as possible.
