Summer has officially come to an end for many South County students. Many San Benito Schools started back to school this week. Seems too early for me, but they get out a lot earlier than the King City Schools, too. King City starts back to school next week.

We hosted a team roping school last week at our place with NFR Team Roping qualifier and Timed Event Champion Kyle Lockett as the instructor. Thirteen South County kids participated in the clinic. Not only did they learn a lot, but they had a great time as well. The kids and their families all camped out at our place for the weekend and we all had a lot of fun. Participating in the clinic were: Dawson and Lila Bell, Lacey and Jake Bourdett, Bailee Nelson, Cash Robinson, Cheyenne Rey, Wacey Barrington, Taylor Hurley, Blaine and Blair Strohn and Sierra and Brody Sans. The school started on Friday afternoon and lasted through Sunday afternoon. What a difference in the kids from Friday to Sunday. Kyle was an awesome teacher. The parents had a great time, too, as we held a parents only team roping jackpot on Saturday evening. The big winners in the team roping jackpot were Andy Barrington and Todd Sans in the first pot, and Papa Vern Scattini and myself in the second pot. We all had so much fun we are already planning another school with Kyle in the fall that will be a “Mom’s Only” school.

The Prewett Family headed off to Boise, Idaho this week to take Kyle to college. It’s hard to believe he is already going away to school. Good Luck, Kyle!

Birthday wishes go out to Jo Ann Scattini who celebrated on the Aug. 18.

Entries are out for the San Benito County Fair which is right around the corner. Entries for the Monterey County Cattlemen’s Association ranch rodeo close on Friday as the rodeo takes place next weekend. Be sure to give Vickie Sabin a call if you haven’t got your entries in yet. The Hollister PBR will be taking place again on Labor Day Weekend at Bolado Park. That is a great event that you won’t want to miss.
