Spring sports getting going in Bitterwater
It was busy out here in Bitterwater last week. Spring sports are
under way, keeping parents busy driving back and forth to town,
while branding season is well under way as well.
The Bitterwater Lady Badgers had their first basketball game of
the season last Thursday night in King City. They hosted the
Lockwood Wildcats and once again, they made Bitterwater proud. With
Rachel Diaz out sick, we only had six players on the team, allowing
us only one sub the entire game. The girls got a little tired, but
played tough and ended up winning with a final score of 36-16.
Their next game is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19 against
Greenfield Middle School, in Greenfield at 6:00 p.m. Playing for
the Badgers this year include: Natalie and Jeanine Madson, Katie
Donham, Sierra Jo Sans, Kassie O’Connor, Taylor Jo Hurley and
Rachel Diaz.

The King City High Lady Mustangs played an exciting game last Friday night against Greenfield High. The game ended in a tie at the buzzer but the Mustangs ended up winning the game in overtime. Former Bitterwater Badger, Carolyn Madson helped the team by making 9 of 10 free throws and Mattie Barrington won the sportsmanship award again. Bitterwater is very proud of these two outstanding athletes, its not too often that Bitterwater alumni start on the varsity team as freshman!
John Wooster branded a set of his calves last Friday at the Mallory Ranch. Those helping out include: Kenny, Casey and Colleen Sabin, Wyatt Duncan, Nessen Schmidt, Mike Mallory and Todd and I.
Congratulations go out to J.W. and Candace Brewen on the birth of their third daughter, Kathryn Ashley (baby Kate) Brewen. She was born on Thursday night, January 12, 2006, at 11:30 p.m., just 30 minutes shy of being a Friday the 13th baby! Baby Kate weighed in at 7 lb., 1 oz. and measured 19.1 inches long. She joins older sisters Emily and Sarah. Congratulations to all!
Get well wishes go out to George Palmer who is under the weather this week, we’re thinking of you George. Get well soon.
Well, I sure had a great football weekend. Finally my Broncos made it back to the AFC Championship game. But, the best part is, since the Colts lost to the Steelers, the Championship game will now be held in Denver, not Indiana like I thought it would be. Who would have ever thought the weekend would end up like that! It’s going to be a tough game, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we actually make it back to the Super Bowl!
People always ask me why I’m such a Bronco fan, well, I was born and raised in Denver and grew up going to the Bronco games at the old Mile High Stadium. So, now matter how good or how bad they are, I will always be a Bronco fan. So, Goooo Broncos!
Have a great week, and, if you have any news you’d like to share, be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at
