Calves branded over holiday weekend
Is it too early to say Happy Holidays? I guess not since there
are only 25 shopping days left until Christmas! I’m having a hard
time getting into the holiday spirit with all this warm weather,
though. We did have a little shot of rain
– just enough to settle the dust last weekend. Hopefully more
rain will be on the way soon.

Is it too early to say Happy Holidays? I guess not since there are only 25 shopping days left until Christmas! I’m having a hard time getting into the holiday spirit with all this warm weather, though. We did have a little shot of rain – just enough to settle the dust last weekend. Hopefully more rain will be on the way soon.
Alma Carlsen hosted the annual Thanksgiving hot lunch last week at Bitterwater Tully School. Some of those stopping by for a pre-thanksgiving meal included: Joann Scattini, Lynette Hurley, Kuulei Flores, Jeff and Jean Schmidt, Jim and Betty Barrington, Ruth Records and Roberta Oswald. We had a surprise visit from past teachers Mr. and Mrs. “R”. Everyone was so happy to see them and they were thrilled to see all the students as well.
Some Thanksgiving news to report on includes: David and Cynnie O’Connor hosted two dinners at their home last week, one on Thanksgiving, another on Saturday. Families sharing dinner with the O’Connors on Thursday included Virginia O’Connor, Robert and Tressy Vanetti, Brysan O’Connor and Robert’s kids. Sharing dinner on Saturday were the O’Connors, Kanani, Chase and Clay Barbree and Kuulei Flores.
Jeff and Jean Schmidt had daughter Susan and her family home for the Thanksgiving holiday and Sami Jo and Gregg Johnsen hosted a big Thanksgiving dinner at their place on Thanksgiving Day. Rory Johnsen celebrated his 16th birthday on Thanksgiving Day while his cousin Nathan Roth celebrated his 16th birthday the following day. Happy Birthday, boys!
Congratulations goes out to the McFarland Family and the Plunkett Family for being the big winners of the free Christmas trees that were donated to Bitterwater Tully School by Bourdet’s Christmas Tree Farm in Hollister. John and Tina Bourdet donate certificates each year to the school for a fundraiser. Thank you, John and Tina, and happy tree hunting to the McFarlands and the Plunketts.
J.W. and Candace Brewen, along with Todd and I, branded a few calves last weekend at each of our homes. The calves were small enough that we were able to let the kids rope all of them. Helping out at the branding, or just enjoying the day included: The Barrington Family, The Hurley Family, Casey Sabin, Vern and Joann Scattini, Donna and Laurence Hansen, Bob and Ann Hansen, Cynnie and Kassie O’Connor, Kanani, Chase and Clay Barbree and Nessen Schmidt and Val Basetti.
The National Finals Rodeo is starting this week in Las Vegas, Nev. Lots of lucky folks will be traveling there during the next 10 days to take in the action. Have fun everybody. Wish we could go, too!
Until next week, happy holiday shopping, pray for rain and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me with any news at
