Whew, I’m I glad last weekend is finally over! It was a busy one for a lot of South County residents. Besides graduation ceremonies and birthdays, there were barbecues and a family reunion to attend as well. Life seems to be just one big barbecue in South County these days!

Congratulations once again to Bitterwater Tully graduates Katie Donham, Natalie Madson and Sierra Jo Sans. The girls graduated before a crowd of over 150 people last Friday night at Bitterwater Tully School. The weather actually cooperated beautifully as there was no wind for the first time in a long time. After the ceremonies and wonderful speeches given by each of the graduates, a delicious barbecue was served by the eighth-graders’ dads, John Madson, J.D. Donham and Todd Sans. Thank you to all the wonderful community members who made this evening special for the girls, it was an evening they will never forget. Best of luck in high school girls, I know you’ll all make Bitterwater proud.

Congratulations also go out to a few more of our friends who also graduated from eighth grade from surrounding schools. They include Evan Petrovich, Kambree Borzini, Brooke Tavernetti, Nathan Davis, Blaine Strohn and Grace Tobias. Jefferson School also had two eighth-grade graduates as well. Congratulations also go out to Mason Mallory who graduated from Paso Robles High last Friday night as well.

Birthday wishes go out to who else but Aunt Nix (Roberta Oswald) who had ANOTHER birthday party last Saturday afternoon. This was her third 80th birthday celebration this year. She is quite a lady to be honored by so many different friends at so many different parties. This party was held for all the community members of Bitterwater. Also celebrating a birthday and having a party in his honor was Ed Tully who celebrated last Saturday afternoon. Happy Birthday Ed!

We had a big graduation barbecue for Sierra Jo at our home last Saturday afternoon. Some of those stopping by to congratulate Sierra included: George and Sandy Rose, Les Sans, Vern and Joann Scattini, Jeff and Jean Schmidt, Donna and Laurence Hansen, Johnny Joe and Darlene Maggini, Frank and Betsy Roth, Sami Jo, Rory and Jo Ellen Johnsen, Lynette Hurley, Hec, Kasey, Taylor, Twyster, Tatum and Tryan Hurley, Blake Willoughby, Jessika Silva, J.W. and Candace Brewen, Andy, Tamra and Wacey Barrington, Bonnie Stoeberl, Chris, Crystal, TJ and Taylor Bunch, Larry Wilson, Casey Sabin and Natalie and Jeanine Madson.

Vern and Joann Scattini hosted a Schmidt Family Reunion last Sunday afternoon at their place. I haven’t seen the guest list yet but there were plenty of folks on hand to attend. A few of those I spoke to included: Doris Schmidt, Ted Franscioni and his wife from Carmichael, Amy Lou Hall from Oklahoma, Bob and Betty Schmidt, Donna and Laurence Hansen, Jeff and Jean Schmidt, Tim Bengard, Nessen Schmidt and Val Bassetti, Nessen Schmidt Jr. and his girlfriend Jessica, the Johnsen family, Lynette and Heidi Hurley, Mike and Mary Ann Mallory, Tini and Eva Lou Bray, Albert Bray, and our family just to name a few. Amy Lou brought each of the kids potato guns from Oklahoma so the kids all had a great time shooting potato buds at each other. Only in Bitterwater can kids still have fun with potatoes!

After last weekend’s motorcycle craze in Bitterwater, there was a little more law enforcement presence out here on the roads. Unfortunately, not enough to slow them down though. There were actually two motorcycle wrecks out here on Sunday alone. And, if you can believe this, one of motorcyclists actually came to the crazy lady’s house to use the phone to call for an ambulance! He did get to use the phone, but, he did get an earful from the lady of the house the entire time he was there! Maybe they’ll pass on to there buddies that they need to slow it down out here!

Summer has officially begun out here in South County. Hopefully the days will slow down a little bit so we can enjoy it. This weekend many will be heading up to Hollister to participate in the annual Memorial Ropings at the Blackburn Ranch on Saturday, followed by the annual Father’s Day Roping and Figure 8 Roping eliminations on Sunday at Bolado Park. Be sure to come on out to enjoy both events this weekend.

Have a great week, and, be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com with any news you’d like to share.
