South County residents travel to Vegas to see local in PBR
Can you believe it’s already November? Christmas will be here
before we know it. It sure doesn’t feel like November, though. It’s
been so warm it feels more like September. We had such a great
start with the rain and the grass got such a good start, I hope it
rains again soon.

Can you believe it’s already November? Christmas will be here before we know it. It sure doesn’t feel like November, though. It’s been so warm it feels more like September. We had such a great start with the rain and the grass got such a good start, I hope it rains again soon.

Cash Robinson and his fan club returned home from a weekend of PBR action in Vegas. Cash competed in the junior bull riding event at the PBR and he got on three really rank junior bulls. Cash is an awesome up-and-coming bull rider and he rarely gets bucked off. But unfortunately he drew three really tough bulls in Vegas and wasn’t able to make the whistle on either of them. I’ve seen some pictures of him on the bulls he was on and they were rank! It was such a good experience for him to be there and such a great opportunity. He was coached by PBR qualifier Brendon Clark and friends Wyatt Bourdet, Kent Hirdes and Chance Jackson. Some of those traveling to Vegas to support Cash and to take in some PBR action included Wyatt and Lacey Bourdet, Dean and Nicki Bell, Ben and Jamie Reid and Brody Sans. Brody had a great time hanging out behind the chutes with Cash and Brendon, and just hanging out with all the bull riders. The boys got to meet world champions Cody Custer and Matt Austin.

All of the junior bull riders entered received free tickets to the PBR performances so the boys enjoyed two performances of world championship bull riding. I was hoping that watching the tough caliber of bulls that Brody might change his mind about bull riding in the future. Unfortunately, it had the opposite effect and now he wants it more than ever! Congratulations to Cash on being invited to participate in the junior bull riding championship, and thanks to Cash, Ellie and David for including Brody in such a fun experience.

The Salinas Valley Fair Ranch Rodeo takes place the weekend of November 13-15 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. An open barrel race takes place on Friday night, followed by a roping on Saturday and ranch rodeo on Sunday. Entries close this week so be sure to contact Casey or Vickie Sabin if you haven’t gotten your entries in yet.

I received a phone call from an elf at the Bourdet Christmas Tree Farm the other day. They will be open for business the day after Thanksgiving and they have several fun, family-oriented activities taking place at the farm. Santa will be there every weekend from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there is a 15-minute-long, narrated sleigh ride through the farm where one can see several elves and reindeer along the way, there will be food and beverages available and the FFA is hosting their annual petting zoo. Be sure to mark your calendars now for the opening weekend so you can be one of the first ones in line to pick out your tree.

Have a great week, keep your fingers crossed for rain, and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at
