Last weekend, the King City Ballet presented its annual rendition of The Nutcracker. This was the first time ever that the whole ballet featured all

King City residents. A sure sign that the theater is up and running in King

City, The Voice and Acting class presented its second annual Nutcracker

Pre-show right before the ballet. South County’s own Breanna Schwarz was featured as the lead announcer in the pre-show. Breanna landed that lead by beating out three older girls for the part. Great job Breanna! Taking in the play and Breanna’s performance included her proud parents, William and Ellen Schwarz, her grandparents, the Madson Family and her teachers, Mr. and Mrs.

“R”.

The December Cowboy Church service was held last Wednesday at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. Once again an awesome country musician was the featured speaker and guest. Leo Johnson, lead singer for the Cross Country Band from Nashville, performed some fantastic country Christian music and beautiful Christmas carols to help remind us of the true reason for the holiday season. Some of those from South County enjoying the evening included Nita Tully, Ed and Angie Strohn, Kathy Greene, Mac Dewater, Hec, Kasey, Taylor and Twyster Hurley, Bill and Robin Rist and me, Todd and the kids. Leo and his entire band will be back in Salinas in July for the Christian Concert held during the Salinas Rodeo. No kidding, this is one band you don’t want to miss; they are truly fantastic.

Alex and Stacey Schmidt stopped by for a visit last Saturday afternoon.

They filled us in on their Thanksgiving festivities. Stacey was on fire duty up in the Placerville area so Alex headed on up there to his dad’s place, where he and Stacey hooked up for Thanksgiving dinner. Once Stacey was relieved of her duties, they both headed back home on Sunday afternoon. While at our house, we all played a game of Pedro and I’m proud to say that us gals whipped the guys by a very wide margin. Todd likes to brag about “never been beaten by a woman in Pedro” so now we’ve got one up on him!

In case any of you livestock producers have forgot, the deadline for the Disaster Relief Program is Friday. Don’t forget to get your applications in to see if you qualify. Every little bit helps in these dry years.

The Bitterwater Tully School will be hosting its Christmas Program on

Friday at Tully Hall. The program begins at 6 p.m. with refreshments and desserts to follow along with a visit from Santa. Be sure to stop by, the program promises to be fun and entertaining.

Football really stunk Sunday with the Broncos, Cowboys and Chargers losses. I lost a lot of bets this week. I’m sure all you Raider fans are on Cloud Nine. I should have gone Christmas shopping today instead of staying home to wrap presents and watch all my teams lose!

Hope you all have a great weekend, and, if you have any news you’d like

to share, give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected].
