Week’s spring weather works for cattle branding
Spring is right around the corner but we sure had some
spring-like weather last week in South County. Warm, beautiful,
sunshiny days sure make the grass grow. What a difference a day
makes, though, as today it is pouring down rain. But the rain is
just as beautiful as a sunny day, too, so, bring it on!

Taking advantage of a few warm days to brand some calves last week were John Wooster and the Peachtree Ranch. Lots of folks are finishing up with branding season. It’s good timing too as the calves are just getting bigger and bigger every day. Bill and Robin Rist branded the last of their calves on Tuesday.

Tina Bourdet, Laurie Johnson and DeeCee Donati hosted a baby shower for Lacey Bourdet last Saturday afternoon at the Leal Vineyards. Little baby Bourdet is definitely going to be the best dressed baby in South County as she received so many cute little clothes that she’ll have a new outfit every day of the year for at least a year, if not more! The vineyard was a great place to host a party of that size. It was my first time there and I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a place to host a party. There were lots of people on hand to celebrate with Lacey. Just a few that I got to visit with included: Ann Hansen, Sandy Rose, Ginger Taliaferro, Lynn Jacobsen, Dana Aviles, Brittany Nielson, Glenna Porteur, Vicki and Colleen Sabin, Kasey Hurley, Candace Brewen, Kyla Prunty, Stacey Schmidt, Jamie Pura and her little girls and Nicki and Lila Bell. Lacey is due on April 5. Not too much longer, Lacey!

Birthday wishes go out to Tel Jones who celebrated his birthday Feb. 19.

Don’t forget about the San Benito County Cattlewomen’s Association Pedro Party this Friday night at the Tres Pinos Church Hall. The party begins at 6:30 p.m. and there will be lots of fun, food and refreshments.
