Keep the rain a comin’
We got a nice little shot of rain in South County last week, we
sure hope it keeps coming now. Everyone could sure use some rain
right about now, everything is so brown and dry, I’m looking
forward to the green grass again.

Congratulations to the King City High Lady Mustangs Volleyball team on a very successful season that finally came to an end last weekend in San Jose. The girls made it through the first round of playoff action last Wednesday night in King City against a tough Half Moon Bay team. The girls then advanced onto the second round of play in San Jose but didn’t come out on top there, so that ended their season. Now, it’s on to basketball!

Many South County High School Rodeo participants spent last weekend in Paso Robles at a multi-district high school rodeo. Competing from our area included Regan and Robbie Avery, Megan Melton, Katie Harris, Megan Cheney, Dreux Clark and Callie Whitney. The kids will competing again this weekend in King City at a District 4 High School Rodeo. Be sure to stop by Saturday or Sunday to take in the action and to root on your favorite cowboy or cowgirl. The Wrangler Junior High Division students will be competing on Sunday as well.

Helen Matulich and J.D. Donham both branded calves at their places last Saturday. I don’t know how wet is was at Donham’s but I’m sure it was every bit of wet and rainy there as it was at Matulich’s. It was a wet, cold, blustery day, but, all the calves got branded anyway. Some of those helping out or stopping by for a delicious lunch afterwards included: Jim, Alethea and Kyle Prewett, Lacey Taliaferro, Chance Jackson, Tim Griffin, Doad Hext, J.W. and Candace Brewen, Mike and Robert Swift, DJ Parker, Pat and Mary Hagen, The Hansen Family, Rose and Ernie Prewett and many of their family members, Stan and Jeanette Sharp, Bob Cofelt, Jay Jones, Blane Strohn and the Sans Family.

Anniversary wishes go out to Vern and Joann Scattini (28 years), Gregg and Sami Jo Johnsen (17 years) and George and Sandy Rose (46 years) who all celebrated anniversary’s last week. They all celebrated by having dinner at the Grill last Saturday evening. Joining in the celebration included Johnny Joe and Darlene Maggini, Lou Harbin and John Brewen and me and Todd.

Bitterwater Tully students are in the midst of a few more fundraiser’s these days. They are currently selling See’s Candy, spring flower bulbs and raffle tickets for a hand cut Christmas tree donated by Bourdet’s Christmas Tree Farm in Hollister. The fundraiser’s go on through next week so be sure to get in touch with any of the students to purchase your candy, bulbs or raffle tickets.

Alma Carlsen will be hosting hot lunch at Bitterwater School next Wednesday, November 22nd at 11:30 A.M. Everyone is invited and encouraged to stop by and enjoy lunch with the students and staff.

Have a great week, and, if you have any news you’d like to share, be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected].
