KC Little League heats up summer
Summer is in full swing in South County these days. The weather
has been hot and there have been plenty of activities going on as
well.
Huge congratulations go out to the King City Little League
12-year-old All-Star team. The team won the District 9 Championship
last week in Salinas and will play for the Section 5 Championship
Monday night in San Jose. No matter what the outcome, it has been a
great ride. The boys have really come together as a team and have
played great. All the wins have definitely been a team effort as
important contributions have been made by each player. The team
started off the San Jose tournament last Thursday by defeating
Aptos 6-5. Last Saturday afternoon, they defeated Moreland District
by a score of 4-3.

Summer is in full swing in South County these days. The weather has been hot and there have been plenty of activities going on as well.
Huge congratulations go out to the King City Little League 12-year-old All-Star team. The team won the District 9 Championship last week in Salinas and will play for the Section 5 Championship Monday night in San Jose. No matter what the outcome, it has been a great ride. The boys have really come together as a team and have played great. All the wins have definitely been a team effort as important contributions have been made by each player. The team started off the San Jose tournament last Thursday by defeating Aptos 6-5. Last Saturday afternoon, they defeated Moreland District by a score of 4-3.
Each game has been close. I personally like a big win, but the boys must like seeing their parents stress out as each game has only been decided by one run! Since the tournament is a double elimination, the boys will play Monday night for the championship, but, if they stumble a little bit, they can still come back and play again on Tuesday. If they win the section it’s on to San Leandro to play for the Northern California title on Thursday evening. Congratulations King City, we’re proud of you! A big thank you also goes out to so many community members for traveling to both Salinas and San Jose to cheer on our boys. The community support in King City is what makes this town so special.Â
South Lake Tahoe was the place to be last weekend if you are a softball family. The King City Hurricanes teams played in a tournament there last weekend. Seems everyone I talked to was either going to watch or had kids playing in the tournament. Wish our boys were playing there instead of the big city!
The Johnsen Family, The Roth Family, Lynette and Heidi Hurley and Joann Scattini just returned home from a weeklong trip to Colorado. They all had a great time at a family reunion. While there, they swam, fished, went river rafting and sightseeing. Wish we could have been there, too, but sure sounds like they had a great time.
According to many folks, it was standing room only at the King City High School last Thursday evening for the community meeting regarding the high school accreditation. Everyone I spoke to was very encouraged and positive regarding the issue. Seems like the new principal, Mr. Lundt, is right on top of things and getting things going in a positive direction. I think there will be a silver lining in this cloud and everything will work out for the best. This may be the worst thing that ever happened to KCHS, but the outcome may turn out to be even better than anyone ever expected.
Have a great week, and if you have any news you’d like to share, be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at we********@ao*.com. Go King City All-Stars!
