South County students enjoy hot lunch and field trips
Another weekend has come and gone and with it another week of
NFL football; how ’bout them Broncos now? 6-0 baby! Sorry, I just
can’t help but be excited about my team. Last time they were 6-0,
we went on to win the Super Bowl. We’ll see what the next 10 weeks
bring. I may quit writing about them before too long!

The San Benito County Cattlemen’s Association hosted their annual meeting last weekend at the Fox Creek Ranch in Tres Pinos. The meeting was held in conjunction with another 19th Hole Ranch Rodeo. Congratulations to Pat Abercrombie for winning the all-around honors for the day. After the rodeo, the cattlemen served a delicious barbecue lunch before their annual meeting.

I hosted the monthly hot lunch at Bitterwater Tully School last Friday in conjunction with the VNA flu shot clinic. Some of those joining us for lunch included Jeff Schmidt, Laurence Hansen, John Nino, Doug Forzani, J.W. Brewen, Todd Sans, Jo Ann Scattini, Lynette Hurley, Kuulei Flores and George and Donna Palmer, just to name a few. After lunch and the shots were given, students and staff from Jefferson School arrived for a volleyball match. Both schools played extremely well and everyone had a great time.

Belated birthday wishes go out to Kyla Prunty who celebrated her birthday on Oct. 1. She won’t mind getting a belated wish as she likes to think of the entire month of October as her birthday!

Many thanks to the staff at the Bear Valley CDF station as they hosted the students of Bitterwater Tully School last week on a field trip to the station. After a great tour of the station, the helicopter landed for all the kids to check out and then the firemen barbecued lunch for the students and staff. Many of the kids decided they’d like to be firefighters after that field trip.

If you’re looking for something to do on Halloween weekend, don’t forget about the Professional Bull Riders National Finals that will be taking place in Las Vegas. And, more importantly, don’t forget about Hollister’s own Cash Robinson who will be participating in the Junior Bull Riders Future Champions competition that will be held the same weekend at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. Cash will be riding at 1 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Halloween weekend. He and Brody have been practicing weekly with the help of PBR bull rider Brendan Clark and Wyatt Bourdet, Kent Hirdes and Chance Jackson. Brody is hoping to compete at the event next year. Cash should have plenty of friends and family there rooting him on as I’ve spoken to many people who are planning to attend. Good luck, Cash!
