Football season starts up for Broncos fan
Are you ready for some football, South County? I sure am. I love
this time of year
– a little preseason football can sure give you some hope that
your team is going to go all the way this year! Ha, ha, not my team
though. I think I’m going to have to switch to the Chicago Bears
for a little while anyway. I’m still disgusted with what the
Broncos did to Mike Shanahan and Jay Cutl
er. I’ll always be a Bronco fan, but for a little while I’m
rooting on the Bears as well.

Are you ready for some football, South County? I sure am. I love this time of year – a little preseason football can sure give you some hope that your team is going to go all the way this year! Ha, ha, not my team though. I think I’m going to have to switch to the Chicago Bears for a little while anyway. I’m still disgusted with what the Broncos did to Mike Shanahan and Jay Cutler. I’ll always be a Bronco fan, but for a little while I’m rooting on the Bears as well.

It’s also that time of year that the fall calves are starting to hit the ground. Let’s hope and pray that the forecasters are right and we really are in for an El Nino weather pattern this year. It’s been more than 10 years since the last El Nino so we are definitely due for a wet year.

Have you been watching the news lately regarding all the town hall meetings that are taking place across the country regarding Obama’s healthcare plan? They sure are getting heated up. Several South County folks headed to Hollister to take in the town hall meeting there. We’ll try to make the one in King City in a few weeks.

Several South County residents spent the weekend in Salinas last weekend for the ACBRA barrel racing finals. Some of those participating from South County included Colleen Sabin, Betty Sans, Becky Doty, Cynthia Fancher, Janel Flook, Kasey and Taylor Hurley, Jessika Willougby and me and Sierra.

Jeff and Jean Schmidt have just arrived home from a week-long trip to Washington State for a visit with Jean’s family. Their daughter Shari and son-in -law Jeff are now official residents of Hollister as they have been residing there since the first of July.

The Monterey County Cattlemen’s Association will be hosting their annual roping and ranch rodeo Aug. 22 – 23 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. Be sure to give Vickie or Casey Sabin a call if you’d like to get entered.
