The Bitterwater Lady Badgers Basketball team played a few tough games last week. They traveled to Salinas last Wednesday to play against Buena Vista School. It was another very competitive game but the girls pulled off the win again with a final score of 30-26. They played again last Friday in a round robin scrimmage against San Lorenzo and San Antonio Schools. The girls played great there as well. The girls will be very busy this week as they will play against Gonzales, Greenfield and Chualar.

Congratulations to Mattie Barrington and the King City High Lady Mustangs on their awesome win last week against Carmel High School. Mattie had an awesome game by scoring 17 points. She was unstoppable in the first half. The ladies will have another good game at home on Monday the 12th against Santa Catalina School.

The King City Riding Club held it’s first gymkhana of the year last Saturday in King City. Many South County kids participated in the event. Arvid Myhre barbecued some delicious steaks for the crew afterwards.

Birthday wishes go out to Alberta Rist and Jeff Schmidt who both celebrated birthdays last week.

Vern and Joann Scattini hosted a big Super Bowl Party at the “Bitterwater Country Club” last Sunday afternoon. J.W. Brewen was in charge of the Superbowl Pools and lucky Cynnie O’Connor was one of the days big winners and she didn’t even know who was playing in the Superbowl! Next time you see Cynnie, hit her up for lunch as she was a big money winner and she’s not even a football fan.

Mark your calendars for a few upcoming events. The Bitterwater 4-H Club will be holding their annual Valentine’s Day Bake Sale on February 14th at Bitterwater Tully School.
