Birthdays and brandings in South County
The weather sure has been crazy lately; it was freezing out here
last weekend! We had frost all over Saturday morning and wind all
weekend long. It didn’t keep the rattlesnakes away though
– I found my first one of the season last week, in my garage! He
was a bit sleepy, but he was awake enough to scare me! Be sure to
keep your eyes open, they are out and about now.

The weather sure has been crazy lately; it was freezing out here last weekend! We had frost all over Saturday morning and wind all weekend long. It didn’t keep the rattlesnakes away though – I found my first one of the season last week, in my garage! He was a bit sleepy, but he was awake enough to scare me! Belated congratulations go out to Mike and Tracie Eggleston on the birth of their new little girl. Marlee Emma arrived April 4, weighing in at almost 7-1/2 pounds. She joins big brother Tel and big sisters Megan and Meryle. She’s got lots of hair and is adoarable; congratulations!

Birthday wishes go out to Andy Barrington, who celebrated his birthday last Thursday. He celebrated with a few friends and family members last Friday night at his house. Tryan Hurley celebrated his first birthday.

J.D. and Denise Donham branded some calves last Saturday morning at their place. I bet it was cold up there that morning! J.W. and Candace Brewen and Carlos and Shauna Castillo were some who helped them out.

The Brewen family, the Hurley family and Casey Sabin all headed over to Porterville last Sunday to participate in a ranch rodeo. They had a little luck in their events and had a good time while there.

The Salinas Valley Fair Kick-Off Dinner and Dance was held last Saturday night at the fairgrounds. Tamra Barrington reports there was a big crowd and the event was a lot of fun. She and Andy stayed until the very end and danced the night away. She said she danced so much she could hardly get out of bed the next day!

Cynnie O’Connor experienced her very first airplane ride last Sunday as she went up in a small plane to take some aerial photos for some friends. She didn’t fare to well as she needed the little brown paper bag that is provided on airplanes for nauseous travelers! I’m sure her pictures will turn out better then she did!

Shelly Brower hosted hot lunch last Friday at Bitterwater-Tully School. Some of those enjoying the delicious lasagna included Jeff Schmidt, Jim Smith, Lynette Hurley, Cynnie O’Connor, Tracie Eggleston, Kasey Hurley and of course, myself.
