A birthday celebration takes the Sans family to Vegas

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. As cold as it was last week, I was beginning to think we were going to have a white Christmas here in South County. I can’t believe Christmas is only seven days away. I hope you’ve gotten all your shopping done!

Birthday wishes go out to Brody Sans who celebrated his 13th birthday last weekend at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. My parents and I took Brody and his friend, Cash Robinson, to the final round of the rodeo last Saturday night. The boys had a great time, not only at the rodeo but at all the autograph sessions as well. They both got to meet the top 15 bronc riders and were even invited to former world champion Taos Muncy’s house to ride steers and broncs. We stayed at the Excalibur Hotel, right across from New York, New York so the boys went on the roller coaster ride several times as well.

Many South County residents spent some time in Vegas last week during the NFR. Some of those we ran into included: Hec and Kasey Hurley, J.W. and Candace Brewen, Andy and Tamra Barrington, Dean, Nikki, Dawson and Lilla Bell and Nikki’s mom Mariam, Randall and Tracie Brooks, Pat and Laurie Abercrombie, Pat and Darby Ricotti, Mr. and Mrs. Florian Barth, Doug Forzani, Allsion Renz and Brendan Clark and Shannon Reno and Wyatt Duncan, just to name a few.

We flew to Vegas on Thursday and to our surprise, Brendon Clark and Allison Renz were on the same flight. Then coming home on Sunday on the same flight with us was Shannon Renz. Allison and Brendon spent last Saturday night at a black-tie Christmas party that was hosted by a sponsor of the Professional Bull Riders Association. Allison was looking forward to the party and I’m sure they both looked great in their black tie apparel. Now that Brendon is healed up from an injury that sidelined him last year, he’s ready to crack back out and hit the PBR trail the first of the year. Good luck, Brendon. You’ve got lots of South County fans rooting you on!

Dawson and Lilla Bell participated in the World Championship Dummy Roping while in Las Vegas. They both threw some really good loops, but unfortunately didn’t qualify for the eliminations.

Wyatt Bourdet, John Rianda and Kyla Prunty spent last weekend in Elko, Nev. as they were hosting and participating in a benefit ranch rodeo for Kyla’s brother-in-law Rolly who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident a few months ago. Neither of them did any good in the ranch rodeo, but the benefit was a huge success despite the cold, cold weather. And, Rolly is on the mend as well and that’s the best news of all.

Both Bitterwater Tully School and Jefferson School are hosting their Christmas programs this week. Both schools’ events will take place on Wednesday evening. Jefferson is trying something new this year as they are performing a Christmas musical show. Both schools will be out for winter break starting next week.

Have a great week and don’t wait till the last minute to get your shopping done. If you have any news you’d like to share, be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at [email protected].
