Quilt show to display local talent
Hollister will be the staging ground for a battle of quilts as the lines are drawn between the finest and the furious. More than 100 quilts will be on display during the Springtime in the Pinnacles show scheduled for April 28-29.
San Benito County has a long history of quilting and many of the quilts on display will capture that history. In fact, one of the quilts has a history that includes several generations in the Bacon family.
In addition to the quilts that will be on display, there will also be 17 vendors selling everything from fabric and thread toa number of other supplies.
“The nice thing about this show is that with the County Fair, any quilt on display has to have been made within the last year, but that is not true here,” said Sharlene Van Rooy, who helped organize the event. “So we’ll likely have a lot of historical quilts.”
The featured artist for this year’s event is Cathie Hoover, who is well known in quilting circles.
The event is being put on by the Pinnacle Quilters Guild of San Benito County. It is being sponsored by the Hollister Downtown Association. The Pinnacle Quilters was founded four years ago and this is the first year they are hosting a quilt show.
The show is Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building. Tickets are $4 in advance and $5 at the door. Children 12 and under are free.
