– the 14th highest unemployment figure among the state’s 58
counties.
California’s unemployment rate was 12.3 percent in November,
according to information released by the California Employment
Development Department. The U.S. unemployment rate also decreased
in November, falling to 10 percent.

The county’s jobless rate was 13.8 percent in October, while the state figure was 12.5 percent. A year ago in November, California’s unemployment rate was 8.3 percent.
A federal survey of households shows an increase in the number of employed people in California. It estimates that the number of Californians holding jobs in November was just more than 16,067,000 – an increase of 26,000 from October, but down 931,000 from the employment total in November 2008.
The number of working Californians was 2,254,000 – down by 45,000 since the previous month, but up 716,000 compared with November of last year.
