Hollister – The 21st annual Downtown Street Festival, Sidewalk Sale and Car Show took over San Benito Street on Saturday. Shiny vintage cars, free slices of watermelon and live music were on tap. The event was put on by the Hollister Downtown Association. Executive Director Brenda Weatherly said this was the most successful street festival in recent years, with a larger and more consistent crowd.

The car show – one of the biggest draws – had 116 participants, Weatherly said. Don Kelley, who organized the car show, said it was very successful.

“This year it cruised along nicely and we had a really good time,” Kelley said. “We had a lot of car owners on the way out make a point to stop and say they thought it was a great event.”
