Chloe Gila and Mariana Magana, fifth-grade students at
Sunnyslope Elementary, came up with an idea to solve a problem
– the problem of what to do with all the used Halloween costumes
that keep piling up year after year. In the process, their ideas is
also helping families who cannot afford to buy or make costumes.
They asked the principal, Mrs. Cline, if they could ask students to
donate their used costumes and g
ive them away to the students who could not afford to buy a
costume. They also asked if kids could come with their old costumes
and swap for one they would like to wear this year.
Chloe and Mariana wanted to be sure that everyone would be able
to have fun at Halloween. Mrs. Cline felt that this was an
excellent idea and in just one week the girls have collected more
than 40 costumes. They even had to move the costumes from the
office to an empty classroom. These girls deserve so much praise
and recognition for their efforts, according to school staff and
their parents.
