Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter to express my opinion about the last meeting of our Board of Supervisors on Nov. 7. I’d like to give the board credit for its decision to leave the hiring of our CAO to the new board. I feel, for their credibility, that for the rest of the year big decisions should be left to the new board.

I was disappointed when they directed the planning department to proceed with work on the Hillside Ordinance. Especially after the planning commissioners killed the idea due to all of the opposition and the new supervisors walked to the podium opposing any decision on the grounds they believe this matter needs more study. Also, the Farm Bureau and a few private citizens feel the same way.

I would like to advise the new board that decisions should be made according to the majority of the people’s opinion if they don’t want to be criticized. I would like to give supervisor Monaco my congratulations for recognizing public opinion. His was the only no vote. I call that honesty.

This matter is supposed to be back in front of the Board on Dec. 7 for public hearing. If I were in this board’s position, I would try to finish the year with a few normal things and depart with a merry Christmas. Leave these kinds of decisions to the new board. They are the ones who will be serving for the next four years. I feel this will be good for them to demonstrate their abilities.

I would like to thank the ones leaving for everything good they believe they have done for this county. I wish them health and luck in the future. I have to admit it is not an easy job. I would also like to admit this is only my opinion.
