Tommy Riesgo Medeles died in Hollister, CA on Friday, March 2, 2012. He was born in Tulare, CA on May 31, 1933. He graduated from Corcoran High School in 1952. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from San Benito High School after 15 years of service.
During his retirement years he enjoyed his family and friends. His once in a lifetime opportunity was to attend “The dedication of the WWII Memorial” in Washington, DC honoring his uncles, Joe B. and Manuel B. Riesgo. He was extremely proud of their military contributions during World War II.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 27 years, Gloria Medeles of Hollister, and by his daughter, Marian G. Medeles of Fresno; sisters Juanita Medeles, Carmen Saenz, Margie Alvarez, Dolores Alvarez, and Ruby Alvarez of Hollister, and brother Frank Martinez of Gilroy; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews; great, and great g! reat nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 7th, 2012, from 6:00 P.M.. until 9:00 P.M.., with the rosary offered at 8:00 P.M. at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Family and friends will leave the mortuary Thursday morning at 9:30 A.M. to attend a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church 5th and College Sts., Hollister at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery with honors provided by Hollister Post No. 9242, VFW and the California Honor’s Guard. Donations are preferred to Hollister Community Pantry c/o the mortuary chapel.
