Recology of San Benito County will provide normal garbage and recycling service this week and next, as Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Saturdays.
The company is also reminding customers that there are two ways to recycle Christmas trees at the curb this year.
As is tradition, the local Boy Scouts will collect and recycle Christmas trees in Hollister, San Juan and surrounding neighborhoods on Sunday, Jan. 2, Saturday, Jan. 8 and Sunday, Jan. 9. On those days, trees need to be at the curb by 9 a.m. and a donation of $8 is asked to help support local activities and the Gerry Rawn Endowment Fund.

Recology will pick up and recycle Christmas trees on normal garbage and recycling collection days from Jan. 3-21. Before setting trees for curbside pick-up by Recology, they must be cut into three-foot by three-foot sections, with all decorations, tinsel and strands removed. Flocked trees are acceptable.
