The University California Santa Cruz’ Arts and Lecture series presents “An Evening in the Home of J.S. Bach on Nov. 23at 8 p.m.

The musical recital features the musical group, The Aulos Ensemble in the UCSC Music Center Recital Hall.

The Aulos Ensemble has won preeminence in the early music movement with a reputation for exhilarating performances informed with scholarly insight, as well as its uncompromising standard of excellence.

Founded in 1973 by five Juilliard graduates, the Aulos Ensemble was one of the first American “original instrument” ensembles.

With the release of, Masterpieces of the High Baroque in 1978, the Aulos brought the joy of its music-making to an ever- widening public and helped create a new awareness of the richness of this repertoire performed on period instruments.

Their music is frequently broadcast by National Public Radio from venues such as The Frick Collection in New York, and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Flutist Christopher Krueger, oboist Marc Schachman, violinist Linda Quan, cellist Myron Lutzke, and harpsichordist Arthur Haas are among the world’s leading performers on baroque instruments today.
