This Saturday from 10 a.m. until supplies run out, Bill’s Bullpen in downtown Hollister will take part in the seventh annual Free Comic Book Day.

Thousands of comic book stores around the world celebrate Free Comic Book Day, when more than 2 million comic books will be given out.

“It’s a fun day,” said Bill Mifsud, owner of Bill’s Bullpen.

Free Comic Book Day isn’t just for kids, Mifsud said. It’s for adults, too. Mifsud is hoping it will encourage kids to read, he said. Mifsud said parents who have a child having problems reading can buy a comic to help teach their kid to read.

Mifsud said there will be between 500 and 750 comics given out at his store on Saturday. Last year he handed out about 625 comics, he said.

Bill’s Bullpen is at 207 Fourth St. in Hollister.
