The National Weather Service has declared a heat advisory for San Benito County, and temperatures soared in Hollister to 101 degrees as of shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday
It was already 88 degrees before noon Monday with temperatures climbing, according to the weather service. The temperature gauge hit 101 as of 1:38 p.m., according to the weather service.
The heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. The weather service is alerting residents it expects the warmest weather this year today and mentioned mountain areas of San Benito County along with inland areas such as Pinnacles National Park in the advisory.
The weather service forecast for Monday calls for a high of 93 in the afternoon. It looks like a one-day heat wave, though, as the expected high Tuesday is 78.
