Hollister police arrested a suspect in a shooting that occurred just outside of Johnny’s Bar & Grill in the early hours of Valentine’s Day, according to a statement from the department.
Hollister resident Paul S. Casarez, 46, was arrested at his residence as the primary suspect in the shooting, according to a statement from the police. The shooting occurred at about 1 a.m. Feb. 14, when there was an altercation between four people and at least one patron on San Benito Street southeast of the bar, according to the statement. Police alleged a bystander was struck by one of multiple gunshots fired, the announcement explained, and the victim sustained minor injuries.
Before his arrest, the suspect had been described as an adult Hispanic male, about 45 years old, 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds with a short military-style haircut and mustache, according to police. The investigation is in its beginning stages, according to the announcement.
