Kylii Anderson, Marissa Opray, and Courtney Grow finished off the Level 5 season, all qualifying for the Zone 8 NorCal Championships.

Throughout their season they met many personal goals and placed individually on different events. USA Sports’ Level 6 team had their best season yet. They took home one second place and three first place trophies throughout the season. Colette Yamaoka, Taylor Lawrence, Megan Jelinek, and Sophie Nye all qualified for the Zone 8 NorCal Championships with Colette Yamaoka taking second place All-Around with a score of 36.475. The team placed fifth overall and Sophie Nye became the Zone 8 (Older) NorCal Vault Champion winning first place with a 9.5.

A lot of hours and hard work go into preparing for competition. USA Sports’ competitive gymnasts sometimes spend more than nine hours a week in the gym. Their coaches help them focus on building strength, endurance, high level skills, teamwork and responsibility. USA Sports’ pre-team and competitive team along with recreational gymnasts are taught life-long skills that help them become leaders and examples of hard work, dedication and discipline. They also excel in activities at school and in the community. Many of the recreational and competitive gymnasts also participate in choir, 4-H, cheerleading, track & field, theatre and much more. They are also superb examples of physical fitness. Taylor Lawrence (level 6 gymnast) was one of two kids who could climb the rope in her high school PE class out of approximately fifty students and she is only one example. USA Sports is continuing to work hard at building strong and healthy gymnasts and looks forward to another great year in 2010.
