Prices at the Quik Stop on San Felipe Road show $2.49 for regular unleaded. It's quite a decrease from the $4 per gallon prices not too long ago.

Hollister’s prices at the pump have taken a dramatic dive in
recent days. And contrary to the norm
– higher prices here than in surrounding communities – the best
deals around are now right here in San Benito County.
HOLLISTER

Gas prices in Hollister have taken a sudden dip this week that put average local prices lower than those in Gilroy and Morgan Hill. Locally, a gallon of fuel will cost an average of $2.51 – 12 cents cheaper than the same amount costs in the neighboring cities.

“The retail side seems to have taken on a more aggressive approach,” said Graham Mackie, vice president of Dassel’s Petroleum. “Usually in the marketplace, one aggressive person sets a lower price and others follow suit.”

Managers at both Quik Stop locations and the Safeway gasoline station were perplexed as to the reason for the drop in fuel prices, saying that they each came into work one day last week to find the gas prices at their stations lower.
