Bill requested that his ashes be scattered at sea, beyond the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge, with a private family memorial. Donations may be made in his name to The Salvation Army.
Bill Verdeckberg (82) of Hollister, CA., passed away after long recoveries from cancer, open-heart surgery, a stroke and related problems. He fought gallantly to overcome each health issue with vigor, positivity, and always with a genuine and gentle wit.
Bill was born in Colorado, moved to California as a teenager, and attended Polytechnic High School in San Francisco. Following four years in the U. S. Navy (Air), he attended Northrop Aeronautical Institute (Los Angeles) and graduated from Colorado University with an aeronautical engineering degree. He was especially proud of his 25-year employment at Lockheed Martin.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years Dianne Verdeckberg, loving children Lorna Marengo and David Verdeckberg (Terri), caring grandchildren Andrea Marengo and Justin Marengo, and newborn great-grandchild Aubrille Phimister.
