A Gilroy woman was killed in a car accident on U.S. 101 near San Juan Road in Aromas Tuesday afternoon when the car she was riding in collided with a truck driven by a San Jose woman, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Olga Tarcher, 91, was riding in the passenger seat of a 1998 Toyota Corolla, driven by Anna Reznik, 65, also of Gilroy, traveling southbound on U.S. 101 in the left lane approaching San Juan Road about 1 p.m. Tuesday when her vehicle collided with a 2004 Toyota Sequoia pulling onto the highway from San Juan Road, police said.

Before the collision, the Sequoia truck, driven by Yong Ae Bowman, 68, of San Jose, was stopped at a stop sign on eastbound San Juan Road at the intersection of U.S. 101.

When Reznik neared the intersection, Bowman pulled onto U.S. 101 from San Juan Road, directly in the path of Reznik’s car, police said.

The front of Reznik’s Corolla struck the left side of Bowman’s Sequoia, killing Tarcher, police said.

Reznik was taken to Santa Clara Medical Center with severe injuries and Bowman was taken to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.

No arrests have been made and CHP is still investigating the collision.
