The Monterey Peninsula Foundation, host of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM, has awarded a $100,000 grant to the Central Coast YMCA serving San Benito County and other area communities.

“Our local Ys are dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility,” said Barb McGaughey, President and CEO of Central Coast YMCA, in a statement. “This generous support from the Monterey Peninsula Foundation strengthens our efforts by giving parents in Salinas, Monterey, Watsonville, San Benito and South County peace of mind in that their children have an encouraging environment that allows them to learn, grow and thrive.”

Currently, the YMCA involves more than 14,000 youths from throughout the Central Coast in day camps, after-school programs, youth sports and activities, while providing parents with a safe, supervised environment for their children.
