Students enrolled in the YMCA afterschool programs worked on several community projects throughout the 2009-10 school year.
“The YMCA of San Benito County has helped youth build important assets to make a positive difference in the lives of our community,” according to a press release.
Some of the projects included making scarves, doing a trick or treat toiletry drive and collecting $156 to buy sleeping bags for the San Benito homeless shelter.
Students also made holiday cards for residents at the Hazel Hawkins nursing facility, did a food drive for the Community Food Bank of San Benito County and collected $334 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through a Hop-A-Thon.
