Hollister defeated by Saratoga in defensive contest
The Hollister 9-10 All-Star team was eliminated from the Section 5 tournament Monday after a 2-1 loss to Saratoga in eight innings at Santa Cruz.

Hollister was ten-runned in its first game of the tournament but came out with a new energy Monday, said manager Scott Salvas.

Kevin Salvas started the game for Hollister. He gave up three hits in his three innings of work. Adrian Medina, Skyler Shaw-Fuss and Jacob Moeller also pitched in the game.

Saratoga scored a run in the second after an overthrow.

And Hollister scored a run in the second after Tyler Pina and Tyler Quimby walked and Dustin Rovella had a base hit. Craig Slibsager had a double but was unable to score.

In the eight inning, Saratoga led off the inning with a base hit. After a fielder’s choice and two base hits, Saratoga scored the winning run.

Defensively, Hollister got out of the third inning by leaving the bases full of Saratoga runners.

In the fifth inning, Rovella, in center field, backed up in Shaw-Fuss, in right, on a ball hit deep. Rovella threw a perfect strike to third to get an out.

Hollister turned a double play in the sixth inning after shortstop Kenny Sabatte tagged second and threw to first.
