Law enforcement officials in San Benito and Monterey counties arrested 25 suspects over the first three days of the “Avoid the 20” campaign, according to a statement from authorities.
That was down by one arrest from last year during the same time when 26 people were taken into custody. In San Benito County, police arrested three people on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The 20-day campaign started last Friday and continues until midnight on New Year’s Day. Avoid the 20, named for the number of police agencies in the two counties, receives money from the state office of traffic safety and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
