The Parks & Recreation commission unveiled a new logo Tuesday at the San Benito County Board of Supervisors meeting.
“The logo represents the themes of the San Benito Parks and Rec,” said Janelle Cox, the county management analyst. “There’s a burst of energy.”
It also reflects the commission’s goal to make San Benito County a more healthy and active county.
“I think the green environment, sunshine all fits in with San Benito County,” said Supervisor Margie Barrios. “I love it.”
Supervisor Jaime De La Cruz also said he liked the change.
“We want to move forward to have a healthy community,” he said.
The Parks and Recreation Commission was established by the board in December 2006 with the goal of park enhancement and development of recreational activities.
County officials previously chose a kangaroo rat character as the parks and recreation mascot in May 2012.
Schipper Design created the new logo based on input received from the Parks and Recreation Commission and Champions group, Cox said. Schipper prepared several logos. An Ad Hoc Committee narrowed the logos down to three. Those involved and the public at the Nov. 12 commission meeting picked the logo in a voting process.
