Hollister firefighters Tuesday responded to a structure fire in Pinnacles National Park that injured one person, according to authorities.
“There was a fire in the garage, and the Hollister Fire Department was able to come down and extinguish it,” said Jan Lemons, the national park’s public information officer.
The park service owned the structure and provided housing for park employees there, Lemons explained.
Firefighters responded to the structure fire at 5000 State Route 146 in Paicines just before 7:30 a.m, according to a press release from the Hollister Police Department. The response was upgraded for medical aid due to a patient with burn injuries, according to the statement.
Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from a 2,400-square-foot, single-story duplex, according to the press release.
Medics gave the burn victim care and sent the person to an area hospital, according to the statement.
By 8:15 a.m., the firefighters had extinguished the fire, according to the statement. The cause of is under investigation, according to the press release.
“We don’t know,” Lemons told the Free Lance on Tuesday afternoon. “We have to get an investigator out here.”
The burn victim’s condition is stable, she said.
