Melting chocolate pours over aprocots at the DeBrito Chocolate Factory.

A fire early Friday morning at DeBrito Chocolate Factory was confined to the kitchen area and resulted in no injuries, but did damage some of the products.

The fire at DeBrito, 160 Briggs Road just outside Hollister, was reported at 5:20 a.m., said San Benito County Fire Engineer Josh Silvera.

The fire was confined to the kitchen and was “pretty much smoldering” and burning a plastic container when firefighters arrived, Silvera said. The facility includes two primary areas – a manufacturing section, which includes the kitchen, and the sales floor.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation, while the investigator could not be reached immediately. DeBrito Chocolate Factory owner Alene DeBrito also could not be reached immediately.
