SAN JUAN BAUTISTA

The Anzar High boys basketball team, limited to just five players Friday, could not keep pace with visiting Pacific Collegiate on Friday and lost 57-26 in Coastal Athletic League action in San Juan Bautista.

Jesse Ramirez scored 12 points for the Hawks, who fall to 2-7 overall, 1-1 in the CAL.

Andres Gomez added eight points.

Anzar head coach Ed Cecena said Pacific Collegiate appears to be the team to beat in the CAL this season.

“They’re a big team,” the coach added. “And we only had five guys.

With them being so big, we got into foul trouble and we couldn’t defend without fouling out.”

Pacific Collegiate’s Jason Gilbert led all scorers with 19 points, while teammate Mark Crowell added 13.

The Anzar boys are off until Thursday when they will visit Georgiana Bruce Kirby at 6 p.m.
